As children grow, so do the vegetables and possibilities for more fun produce to taste to experience, and to be involved in a chance to grow their own. Children expand their opportunities to work in the education garden, spend quality time with the animals, discover treasures in the woods, visit the Ice Pond and the salt marsh, and enjoy a healthy, local snack with harvested produce, flowers, and herbs. Morning sessions are offered for this age group throughout the summer, so children can see the Farm through the changing season as well as see and admire the sunflowers in all their stages of beauty.
At age 5, many of these campers are already veterans of the Farm, having attended camp since they were 3 years old. They know what the chickens like to eat, they know what the goats like to nibble, and they are excited to tell you the difference between arugula and baby kale. Also at age 5, the kids are still delighted to explore the woods, help in the barnyard and make compost.
